Director of the United States Centers for Disease Control Rochelle Walensky (pictured) stated on Friday that she is "encouraged" by the downward trend in daily numbers of coronavirus cases.
Walensky noted that while most communities still have a moderate or high transmission risk, cases have been going down, with the daily number of cases and hospitalizations down 15% and 10% respectively compared to last week.
Lastly, Walensky added that the CDC is monitoring the situation and will adjust its recommendation on mask-wearing and other COVID prevention measures as the situation gets better.
